What I've Been Doing: Trying to rescue my photos before my Lappy has a total meltdown, going to the wading pool, trying out my new workout videos, ambling around with small boys outside, mucking around on Flikr, cleaning sand and watermelon off of everything.
What I've Been Reading: Quilting magazines, a little PG Wodehouse, the book of Proverbs, the final statement from GAFCON , craft blogs, Spoiling Childhood
What I've Been Making: half triangle squares, a new skirt, mini quilts, oatmeal bread, lots of messes with the boys, a big hat, a spaceboy and some paper hexagons.
What I've Been Thinking About: starting a parenting blog, the demise of North American culture and society, becoming vegetarian, Morgentaller being awarded the order of Canada, how to keep life sane during the summer.
What's Making Me Angry: the word "mine", the demise of my Lappy.
What's Making Me Happy: little boys running, dancing, playing and exploring, dirty bathwater at the end of a long day, a light at the end of a very long tunnel (hopefully its not another train this time), the immanent approach of summer vacation, folk festivals, and visitors stopping in on their way cross-country.
What I've Been Planning: way too many quilts, lovely care packages for friends, swaps packages for lovely strangers, my vacation, Art Camp (again), the shape of our next year. And sleep. Sleep is good.

The Lappy is down again. I will probably spend a few days getting her up and running again, so no more detailed posts for a while. Sorry. If you want to see my finished mini-quilt, click the button in my sidebar and find the one with the worm and the flowers. Must clean this disastrous mess that passes for our house.

Status: March 18

What I've Been Doing: swimming and lifting weights, shovelling snow, playing with the boys, trying to figure out what is wrong with my laptop, actually keeping up with the housework (gasp), spring decluttering

What I've Been Reading: Who Let the Blogs Out (Biz Stone), Quilts and More (Spring 2008), Martha Stewart Living (sent to me in place of Blueprint), lots of crafty blogs, Scream Free Parenting, The Idiot's Guide to Being Organized, PC Magazines Guide to Vista, the Book of Ephesians

What I've Been Making: Pincusions, Morwyn's robot (last one for a while, I think), bags, multi-grain bread, fingerpaint, chicken stew

What I've Been Thinking About: the immanent decline of the North American Civilization, fabric, how Andrew's quirks irritate me because they're my quirks too, when winter will end, wether it is good or just ridiculous to try to make money from your hobbies, blogging, how fast the feedback loop is between designers and makers in the crafty part of the internet, and why all of a sudden everyone decides to like birds or the colour yellow.

What's Making Me Angry: molars peeking just above he surface of the gums but not coming in, pettiness, my own inability to keep track of everything, te immanent decline of the North American Civilization, endless winters, the sad demise of my double bike trailer / stroller, incessant whining and climbing and pestering and bossing, my inability to sew something that doesn't fall apart.

What's Making Me Happy: watching Aaron discover the outside world for the first time, listening to Andrew's descriptions of sending his bear into space or being chased by the police, watching my boys play together happily, having patterns come out of my head and work in real life, orange Lotus fabric, Thai curry with cocanut milk and no tomatos, French vanilla yogurt, bright green everything, organic apples, longer stretches of sleep at night.

What I've Been Planning: painting my house (but then, I'm perpetually planning that), "big kid" quilts, night weaning, spring time fun, youth retreats, summer vacation, my parents'50th wedding anniversary (very minimally).

Status: Nov. 11

What I've Been Doing: tending to sick kids, making birthday presents, hosting visitors, plus all the usual kids, youth group, playgroup, etc.

What I've Been Reading: Unplugged Play, Quilts and More (Winter 2007), PopCo, Lisa's emails

What I've Been Making: Robots, beanbags, Jeremy's quilt (honestly Kris, I'm still working on it), bread, supper,

What I've Been Thinking About: is ethical consumerism even possible?, how to control my temper, my in-laws upcoming visit, temperments: my own and Andrew's, introversion and extroversion, being an oddball

What's Making Me Angry: Repeated, endless requests for candy, sherbert, television, juice, chips, and more candy, Sweat shops, the deteriorating standards of North American goods, Wal Mart, people who can't just let their children relax and enjoy themselves, my son's anxiety level, my temper (circular, I know, but there you have it), my son's inability to be kind to his baby brother . . . um, okay, just my son in general.

What's Making Me Happy: watching my sons play happily together, watching Aaron crawl, making toys, laughing at Andrew's funny, wise statements, going to Saskatoon with Sharon, my birthday party, Lisa getting a laptop, late night lane swimming.

What I'm Planning: world domination, the exploration and colonisation of space and what I'm going to buy in Saskatoon tomorrow

Status: Sept 9

What I've Been Doing: running Youth Group Campfires, hosting Birthday Parties, setting up a New Sunday School Room, re-making myself with the "Total Mom Makeover", stitching the Kitty Fur shirt into a Little Kitty, making apple butter, and putting together a fantastic day planner binder, dealing with feverish children.

What I've Been Reading: Adorn and Blueprint fall editions, Mom Makeover book, Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell, the Discipline Book.

What I've Been Making: a stuffed kitten out of Andrew's favorite shirt, a little corduroy bag for Beatrice, and a birthday cake for Andrew.

What I've Been Thinking About: the collective unconcious: does it exist?, quilts, the collapse of early fundamentalist feminist ideals, how to cut milk, cheese, penut butter, chocolate and tomatos out of our diet, how to clean our basement carpet, what to do with all the apples on our tree, wether mangoes will make good jam, how Sharon and I can sneak away to Saskatoon, do I have time to write some creative non-fiction to win the CBC literary awards so I can go to Edmonton and bring home half of Ikea and why am I always so absurdly confident in my own ability to keep up with my latest and greatest schemes?

What's Making Me Angry: the lack of accurate, helpful information and advice available to beginning breastfeeding moms, Saskatchewan parking, my apples all going from not ripe to over ripe in two days, apathy, the imposibility of buying anything in this town that was not made in China, having to drive an hour to find a decent coffee grinder, and the imposibility of waking up before my children.

What's Making Me Happy: fields of wheat, clever things I said this month, getting Richard hooked on StrongBad emails, watching Andrew try to feed Aaron bananas, realizing that my first baby is a little boy and my second baby is trying to walk, seeing my friends after a summer away, my back yard, the Northern lights, the fabric I bought while I was on vacation, the future, my one yellow wall, and the feeling of crawling under my down duvet at night knowing I'll wake up to a clean kitchen and a tidy living room.

What I'm Planning: quilts, youth group, playgroup, house painting and decorating, and a new website for moms. Stay tuned.
